TRUenergy Yallourn is continuing its community activities and preparing for a number of events over the coming months.
The Yallourn Bowling Club is conducting its 12th consecutive Classic Singles and, with TRUenergy again on board as Sponsor, is aiming to attract the highest quality competitors to the outstanding facilities of Yallourn Bowling Club. This Open event is by invitation, with 96 bowlers competing over four days – 12 to 15 January 2009. Entry is free for spectators – a great opportunity to see some great lawn bowlers in action!

After four events which have raised over $144,000 for the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre, the next TRUenergy Yallourn Fun Run/Walk will raise funds for a new beneficiary – Gippsland Asbestos Related Diseases Support Inc. (GARDS) (refer http://www.gards.org).
This event is becoming quite popular with both runners and walkers keen to complete the 7km course along the Moe Yallourn Rail Trail.
The next Fun Run/Walk will be held on Sunday 22 February 2009 – a registration form and fundraising sheet can be downloaded from the links below.

2009 will be the 10th Festival that TRUenergy Yallourn has sponsored – a great commitment to the local community! Come along and help us celebrate over the Labour Day weekend in March. Jazz enthusiasts from across the state will be in attendance as the town moves to the jazz beat! Nearly every venue in town participates in this fantastic Festival, and of course the weekend kicks off with the street parade, official opening and “big blow” in the main street on Saturday morning!
For more information have a look at the Jazz Festival website at http://www.moe.latrobe.net.au/jazz/
As a member of the Latrobe Valley community, we recognise we have a special role to play as a good corporate citizen and a responsibility to support the local community in which we operate and our employees live.
Each year, we support a large number of Latrobe Valley organisations, sporting clubs, schools and events. Some local examples of support include being the major sponsor of Moe’s TRUenergy Yallourn Jazz Festival held each Labour Day Weekend, the annual TRUenergy Yallourn Golf Classic and the TRUenergy Classic Singles bowls tournament.
We are also a partner in the PowerWorks Energy and Technology Centre - the electricity industry information and tour centre in Morwell.
