Supporting Our Community

We support the communities in which we operate by partnering with a wide range of organisations. These organisations are carefully chosen on the basis of their fit with our corporate strategy and values. We also contribute time and money to local community groups located near each of our energy sites, and many of our employees lend their passionate support to these local organisations as volunteers helping to maintain our link with the community.
Some of our community involvement includes:

Yallourn Fun Run & Walk

Yallourn Fun Run & Walk

Ever since our first event in 2004, TRUenergy Yallourn has encouraged the local community to join in the Yallourn Fun Run and Walk for a very worthy cause.  Last year, 300 competitors took part, helping to raise $33,500 for the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre.

Powerworks

TRUenergy Yallourn is one of three Latrobe generators involved in the development and funding of Powerworks, a regional education and tourism facility designed to promote awareness of electricity generation operations.

Moe Jazz Festival

Jazz FestivalTRUenergy’s Yallourn is proud to be the major sponsor of the Moe TRUenergy Yallourn Jazz Festival which occurs over the Labour Day weekend in March. Jazz enthusiasts from across the state descend on Moe to experience some great jazz music. For more information have a look at the Jazz Festival website at http://www.moe.latrobe.net.au/jazz .

TRUenergy Iona Oval & Iona Cup

TRUenergy Gas Storage has supported the Iona Oval for the past four years, earning the right to rename the oval after our gas plant. Our contribution helps to develop better facilities for netball, football and tennis teams, and provide a comfortable place for family and friends of those involved.

Landcare

In 2005, TRUenergy entered an industry-first partnership with Landcare to form Craters to the Coast.  To date, the partnership has funded the planting of 11,000 trees and the rehabilitation of the Curdies River Estuary.
